How did you get started in your career in procurement?

I began my career in accounting and after several years I was presented with an opportunity to work in supply chain. I’m so grateful I took a chance and accepted that opportunity when it was presented. I absolutely love what I do and the people that I support. I joke with my team that it’s great to come into a situation with a plan, but that doesn’t mean that things are going to go according to that plan. I love to help others and this position allows me to help other teams and build efficiencies and plan for the future. Medxcel has given me that opportunity to do the things that I love.
 

What path did you take to arrive in your current role?

It has been an amazing journey. I was not looking to leave my job when I got a call about new opportunity at Medxcel. I was so impressed with Medxcel and the people I interviewed with that I called the recruiter from my car after my interview before I even left the Medxcel parking lot. I told him if this opportunity was not a good fit, I wanted him to find me a job somewhere at Medxcel, because the company felt like the place I needed to call home. The company and its Core Values and the enthusiasm of the employees, the company culture, it spoke to my soul. I am so happy to be part of the Medxcel family now and I am excited to go to work every day. My leaders care about me and I know they will help mentor me and get me to the next steps in my career. In previous companies I have worked at, supervisors were not hands on and didn’t express any interest in learning about me and my goals. Knowing I would have a strong caring support system was huge for me when I joined Medxcel, there are so many opportunities to grow here.
 

What is the best part of your job?

I love working with cross-functional teams to build the most efficient processes and ensure we are doing what is in the best interest of Medxcel. The friendships I have developed here are amazing. I absolutely love what I do. I love learning about other areas of the business and have developed a valuable understanding of the interdependencies between our teams.
 

Which of Medxcel’s Core Values do you feel is most important to you and your role and why?

Dedication is paramount to me because it allows my team and other departments to support each other. It’s been rewarding to work with so many individuals in a collaborative way. It’s been wonderful to see that departments that were disconnected in the past now have great communication and are working seamlessly together. We don’t worry about who is right or wrong, we support and help each other through challenges and celebrate wins. I see that others are dedicated to supporting me, my team, and Medxcel.
 

Can you share something unexpected you have encountered during your time at Medxcel?

I feel very blessed to work for an organization that offers a weekly prayer group open to associates at all levels. The weekly prayer group has aided in my own personal spiritual growth and has provided me with a community at work. We meet weekly, reading prayers, offering intentions, and praying for one another. It’s a safe place to share our own struggles so that we can pray intentionally for one another. Balancing home and work life is important, and I haven’t seen the support for that balance the way I do at Medxcel.
